Day 10 Catalina State Park to East Tucson
We rode 44 miles today and the majority of it was on bike trails. Tucson has the most elaborate bike trails everywhere in the city, It's amazing!
Beautiful cactus and other nature plants line the bike trails. But there were 2 things that stood out to me on this day. The first was the memorial for the child that was shot and died the day Arizona Representative Gabby Gifford was shot. The child is Christina Taylor Green. They have a beautiful memorial spot and bench honoring her very short life. They had a beautiful picture of her with the story of what she loved and the activities she was involved in. It was quite sobering.
The second was the families that bought an area on the bike trail to honor a loved one. There are 4 gardens: The Garden of Winter Solstice, Mask, Flute and Families. The families decorate an area in honor of someone that is deceased. I didn't take pictures of them as there were so many but it is a wonderful idea.
The 3 of us started out as usual and then picked up another couple of riders along the way. Stopped at Chipotle for lunch and kept going on our bike trails. Bubba has pink biodegradable arrows on the ground to help us stay on route. He"s quite a guy! He thinks of everything and takes good care of us .
A couple of pictures that you see along the bike trails.
