Day 14 Rodeo to Columbus
It was a 93 mile ride with vast areas of desert surrounded by mountains. Beautiful scenery all day but not enough close enough to take pictures. The tail wind that was promised didn't exist but at least we didn't have headwinds. I think if that had happened a large group would have sagged.
We did have fun at the area where there was a Border Patrol camera and it kept swinging around to take pictures. We just laughed and kept waving at it. We were waiting for a border patrol to come after us but none did. Another thing they have in New Mexico are tires chained together to be pulled behind a heavy duty pickup to smooth out the dirt road. Then they go back and look for footprints. Now some may not think the border patrol is doing their job but they are busy. We saw them continuously on the road.
We are indoor camping in the gym at the Columbus Elementary School. The woman of the cafeteria cooked us a Thanksgiving dinner. It was delicious. I was worried about the dressing but it tasted so good. Pumpkin pie - I had two pieces. It was a great day!
