Day 17. El Paso Tx to Ft Hancock

61 miles today.  Getting out of El Paso was a little tricky to begin with as it was the end of the commute traffic.  Our route took us through the old town of El Paso which was quite interesting with the old buildings and narrow streets.  Soon we were headed out of town where there was a lot of road construction and a detour that wasn't marked but Fast Eddy showed up and led us around the detour and out of our confusion.

Then it was out of El Paso to our 1st sag stop at a market which included this fantastic bakery.  Most of it was Mexican pastry but then I spied at the end 2 types of donuts.  Glazed and sugar.  It was 4 for $2.  So Gayle and I split it.  1 of each.  I devoured them.  I couldn't believe how good they tasted.  It's been forever since I ate donuts.

Then it was on down the road to the Pecan orchards.  Signs posted that anyone caught picking pecans even from the ground would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.  They are serious!  Bubba even had it on our cue sheets.  Don't pick the pecans!

Lunch was at Free doz with a sag check-in.  At least 3 times during the day we have either a full sag stop that we have to check in so they know where we are.
