Day 7. Gila Bend to Casa Grandae

Wow, today we were surprised by an 87 mile ride.  I guess the armory we were supposed to stay at fell through and we're at a really nice KOA instead but it was further out and added quite a few miles to the day.

The day was quite an interesting day.  Sonora desert for starters.  Then there was construction on the road and it was at least a 15 minute delay with a pilot car.  The workers had us ride to the front of the line and then we were given the full lane for quite a few miles.  Nice riding!

As we were riding an F15 or F18 (can't remember which one it was) flew over us.  It was a beauty.  It wasn't flying that high up that you couldn't see it in all its glory.

Driving down one of the roads there was a cattle lot.  About 3 miles long and a good 2 miles deep.. All we could see was a field of cows.  Reminds me of King City but 3 or 4 times bigger.

We stopped at a Middle School in the middle of nowhere for a rest stop.  I'm sure the school takes care of all the kids in the outlying areas.  But it was a little strange to see such a nice school on the side of a road with fast moving cars.

On Mile 79 there was a house with 3 or 4 dogs that came chasing after the riders.  The dogs seemed to be fenced in but there was a hole in the fence at the corner where the dogs came running out.  Nick was the unlucky guy that was attacked and bit.  He is ok but it sure freaked him out which it would have me.  The sheriff was called and hopefully the dogs had there rabies shot.

Bubba had a margarita party for us tonite because of the mileage change in route.  He sells tokens for the beer and wine that is consumed but this was free.  Good too!  The KOA we are staying at has a pool and hot tub and they're keeping it open all night.  Course most of us are too tired after the 87 miles so not sure if there will be any takers.

Tomorrow we're on our way to Tucson and staying at the Cataiina State Park and then a day off.

No pictures tonite. That's it for today!
