Day 36. DeRidder LA to Opelousas. 91 miles

Last nite in DeRidder we had a humonguous storm.  Lightening thunder hard rain and a tornado warning.  I dont have anything to add to it as I slept through it all.

This morning the weather was humid but warm so I left my warmer weather stuff in my suitcase.  It started out fine but had a flat before the first check in.  I started to change the tire but Coach came by and fixed it for me.  The roads and shoulders were a mess from the storm the night before so everyone was having flats.  10 flats today and then Rita made it 16.  She had 6 flats.  She needs new tires I think.

The weather turned to misting and then further down it was a full fledged rain and cold.  It dropped 10 degrees while we were having lunch.  We went outside and it was so cold it's the first time I ever thought of sagging in.  But the old mantra "suck it up buttercup" came to mind and so we road off.  It wouldn't have been so bad but we were fighting head winds and cross winds.  A miserable day to say the least.  We were trying to make it to Fred's Lounge in Mamou before it closed but we didn't make it in time.  I felt bad for the riders who didn't make it in time as I was there in 2011.  A fun place with Cajun music.

I was so cold when I got in to the hotel.  Thank God it wasn't camping tonite that I jumped into the hot tub.  That's it for tonite.  On the road to St Francisville tomorrow and the weather should be much warmer with no rain.
