Day 41 Poplarville MS to Ocean Springs. 73 miles

So quite a day today.  We started off with Bubba saying there might be a detour so just follow the arrows.   Every morning the staff leaves early and marks the route for us even though we have a route sheet,  We have become very dependent on them.  Anyway a few miles down the road there was a detour sign as a bridge had washed out and a pink arrow.  So of course we turned and meandered through some beautiful areas with hardly any traffic and no stores or services of any kind.   Riding on the backroads of both Lousiania and Mississippi you see beautiful farmlands, lakes, animals which you can't see when riding the main highways.   Churches that are in the middle of no where and always Baptist.

Our lunch sag stop was at a Baptist church where the members had made us a potluck lunch.  Bubba wanted to pay them and they refused so he then decided to donate to the church and they accepted that.  Bubba had asked us to donate whatever we wanted and had put a large envelope down at the church.  He told us tonite that $400 was given to the church by us.  Food was good and lots of it.  When we left the one little lady just hugged me so tight and thanked me for coming in and said she hopes I'll come back next year.  I think riding the C2C twice is enough.

The.last 20 miles consisted of lots of traffic again and headwinds.  But we all made it and are camped at the Super 8 tonite.  We were supposed to camp at an armory but they were activated and so needed it for themselves.  Super 8 works for me.  Showers, a bed with sheets.  Not a bad switch.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Mississippi and say hello to Alabama.   Not too much time left on this trip  On to Dauphin Island  tomorrow and then a rest day.
