Day 46. Milton to DeFuniak Springs. 54 Miles
Just a very nice smooth road with some rolling hills. It started out quite cold and warmed up quickly. A very nondescript kind of day. The highlights of the day:
Lunch at the Simply Good Country Cooking BBQ. I had BBQ pork with potatoe salad which was excellent. We chatted with the owner. There were pictures of her elementary classes from 1954 I think. She met her husband at age 14 although she didn't know at the time she would be marrying him. On her menu is "What Jeremy is eating today". You can order that and I guess it changes everyday. She was fun and very interesting. Born and raised in that little town. Not even sure what the name of the town is.
Tonite the little ol ladies at the Sunset King RV Resort where we are camping fixed and served us dinner. They were so cute just about stumbling around trying to serve us all and having a good time doing it. The meal was delicious and the ladies were fun. Several different types of homemade pie. I had blackberry which was wonderful.
We also heard the story from John that he had found a wallet on the road. He turned it into Bubba and they were able to trace and call the wife. She was frantic and so was her husband. He had left it at the gas station and then got pulled over by a state trooper. He had no ID with him. Then the wife called and let them know the wallet had been found. The guy was told to stay put and the state trooper drove back and picked up the wallet and brought it to him. It sounded like he was not going to be let go on his own. So today John was the hero. It seems there is a hero everyday.
Tonite is our last outdoor camping in our tents. Not too sad about leaving it though.
Tomorrow we are on our way to Marriana. 74 miles.
